Converting
Virtual
Graphics & Converting offers a variety of tape converting services for
pressure sensitive adhesive products, with attention to detail and a focus
on quality.
Tape converting is the process of transforming a general product into
something more specific. Here are several examples of this as it relates
to converting pressure sensitive adhesives:
- Wide rolls of tape (both supported and unsupported) can be transformed
into narrow, short length rolls or sheets.
- Aluminum foil may be laminated with a specialty adhesive. Then, this
material may be slit to a certain width and transformed into rolls of
aluminum foil tape, or it may be die-cut into shapes that may be used
as a foil shield.
- Various materials may be slit into rolls and then cut to specified
lengths. The resulting product is a strip of material that may be used
for many purposes.
- Printing several colors on carton sealing tape is considered converting
because long length wide rolls of polypropylene tapes are transformed
into standard length rolls printed with the custom design or logo requested.
- Foam may be laminated with a specialty adhesive. The foam rolls may
be converted to custom sizes and used in a variety of manufacturing
applications..
- Perforating - Individual labels or die-cut pieces can be presented
for single applications
- Hole Punching is preformed upon end user requirements, often for computer
printers that feed paper from side holes
Slitting
Virtual Graphics & Converting "slit to width" capabilities for customers
seeking custom width rolls of pressure sensitive adhesive tapes. We can
convert your adhesive tape into rolls that meet your customized requirements.
Virtual Graphics & Converting has several pieces of equipment that slit
rolls to custom width. Material may be razor cut, crush cut.
- Razor cut slitting is a process that uses single
blades. Material is pulled through the stationary blades, making precise
cuts.
- Crush cut or score slitting is a process whereby
circular knives are pressed against a steel cylinder or mandrel with
material being pulled through, between the knives and the mandrel. Score
cutting is more appropriate for materials of uneven thickness while
razor slitting is best suited for films and thinner materials with consistent
thickness.
- Shear cut slitting is a process that uses two circular
knives in a shearing motion to produce precise cuts.
The logs of tape may vary in length, so you are able to design the most
appropriate length and width for your application needs. Rolls of tape
may be slit to as narrow as 10mm. Tolerances are typically 1/32" but may
vary depending on the material being slit.
Sheeting
Virtual Graphics & Converting has sheeting
capabilities that allow us to cut products to specific lengths, from 1"
to 18", up to 10" wide, letting you to free up valuable employee time.
Typically, material is slit to a custom width and then is sheeted to the
specified length, creating custom dimensions.
We are capable of sheeting
foam products, felt, hook and loop, foils, thin gauge plastics, and tag
& label stocks. In addition we can offer transfer adhesives in sheet
form.
